Inauguration: August 13, 2015 – Fairfax, Virginia

Equality Foundation, a highly ambitious program launched today with the participation of Dr. Mahabir Pun, Dr. Bishnu Paudel, Gyan Mani Nepal (District Education Officer), Dr. Tulashi Joshi, Hon. Ambassador Dr. Arjun Karki, Congressman Don Beyer (D-VA), Madhukar Sjb Rana (Formar Finance Minister – Nepal), Guy Hinkler, Dr. Suzaan Minarcine Hon. Consulate General Prem Raja Mahat, Bijaya Shrestha, Laxmi Gaundel, Keshab Baral, Hari Sharma, Dr. Shukha Dev Shah, Dr. Chitra Tiwari, Rita Tiwari, Tanka Dahal and many other distinguished guests.

Congressman Mr. Don Beyer (D) officially inaugurated the program lighting the lamp and expressed his views highlighting the importance of Internet and how will it help to change the life style in peoples’ lives. He further mentioned that he wishes the best and success for the project and will be glad to provide any assistance if needed.

Dr. Bishnu Paudel is leading the project with the association of other executive board members and he introduced all the present board members there.

It is an ambitious program to close the digital divide throughout the globe, a dream to provide computer and Internet access in every classroom on earth and transform traditional villages into a smart villages; an underprivileged school into a smart school. It has aimed to bring the changes in the life of villagers with the help of Internet and modern technology.

Initially a pilot program is set to be launched in 3 districts of Nepal; Panchthar, Jhapa and Bajang and followed by other districts

National treasure of Nepal Dr. Mahabir Pun, who addressed the crowd and shared his experience from the past and illuminated the possibilities and challenges of this program to achieve it’s goal in future. Dr. Pun also revealed his association in this program and promised to support in every mean in order to provide Internet Wi-Fi, Solar power and other Technical supports in the remote locations. Dr. Suzaan Minarcine shed some lights her other organization is so successful and how it will be trail brazier in its mission.

Mr. Gyan Mani Nepal, District Education Officer of Nepal in Panchthar District, also addressed the program. Mr. Nepal has brought significant changes in public schools in Panchthar, setting a course for school reforms. Nepal government has recognized him, awarding the Nepal’s first Integrity Idol Awards in January 2014 to shine a spotlight on honest and industrious civil servants in a country where government officials are often associated with corruption and incompetence. Gyanmani Nepal was chosen among five finalists from over 300 nominees.

Likewise Prof. Madhukar SJB Rana, former Finance Minister of Nepal, also announced his association in this program and will provide any assistance in order to achieve its goal. As a Rotarian, he also mentioned that the Equality Foundation should work together with the Rotary Clubs from Nepal.

During the first phase of project, entire public schools in identified districts will be equipped with Solar Power (if necessary), Internet (Wi-Fi), computers, printers, projectors and qualified technical support to educate computer science to school children.

Dr. Mahabir Pun, Mr. Gyanmani Nepal, Madhukar SJB Rana are the local representative in Nepal. Prof. Medani Adhikari is the Chief Executive Officer and founder of the foundation and Mr. Guy Hinker who is the vice president of the organization, was the master of the ceremony and Secretary Mr. Niranjan Regmi welcome the guests and participants.
